Why sustainability at LITEF?
At LITEF, sustainability is more than just a trend – it is a core part of our corporate philosophy. In an industry that requires the highest levels of precision and reliability, we develop solutions that meet technical requirements while respecting both the environment and our society.

Our areas of action
Protecting the environment and energy efficiency
We make consistent use of measures to reduce emissions and increase our use of renewable forms of energy. Our location in Freiburg is already benefiting from district heating and energy-efficient production processes and plans to continue to drive this forward over the years to come.
Sustainable materials and the circular economy
In our development processes, we take recycling strategies into account and make use of sustainable supply chains. In this context, we focus especially strongly on reducing the levels of waste generated in our packaging and production processes.
Our goals
In the coming years, we will establish a comprehensive measurement system for environmentally relevant key figures. As part of our corporate strategy, we are continuously reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the proportion of renewable electricity. At the same time, we are optimising our water consumption through lower extraction and improved treatment processes in the corporate cycle. Energy-efficient production processes are an integral part of our manufacturing.
Implementation
We are already implementing specific measures to improve sustainability: business trips are preferably made by train rather than by plane, and our employees benefit from electric charging stations, public transport tickets and the Job Bike programme for environmentally friendly mobility. At our site, we use district heating, have implemented energy-saving measures in production and are gradually switching to electric company cars.

At LITEF, the focus is on fair working conditions, continuous training as well as diversity and inclusion. With more than 600 employees in Freiburg, we are creating a working environment which supports innovation and personal development.

Transparent and responsible corporate governance forms a key component of our sustainability strategy. Our Code of Conduct, anti-corruption guidelines and the planned introduction of the German Corporate Governance Code are the basis for our ethical actions.

LITEF is committed to clear and open ESG reporting within the scope of the statutory requirements. In creating our assessment system for environmentally relevant issues, we are providing the basis for the systematic tracking and communication of our sustainability indicators.

Case study: low-carbon mobility
By consistently supporting sustainable mobility, we have succeeded in significantly reducing our employee’s CO₂ emissions. Our combination of e-charging stations, public transport tickets, the Jobrad cycle-to-work scheme and prioritising the use of the train for business travel have delivered a measurable degree of success in terms of our climate footprint.
Energy-efficient production
At our production facility in Freiburg which covers an area of more than 8,000 m², we make consistent use of energy-optimised production concepts and energy-saving measures. Our clean room production already works on the basis of energy-efficient processes.
Partnerships for sustainability
Through our membership of organisations such as the BDLI e.V., BDSV e.V. and our collaboration with regional institutes such as Hahn-Schickard and microTEC Südwest e.V., we promote the discussions surrounding sustainable technological solutions in our industry.

With the planned development of systematic key performance indicator systems and the further development of our ESG reporting, we are creating the basis for a more transparent and measurable level of progress.
