Technology “Made in Germany”: NG LITEF Celebrates 65 Years of Partnership with the German Armed Forces at the ILA Berlin
At ILA Berlin, Northrop Grumman LITEF (NG LITEF) will present its latest solutions in the field of inertial navigation and stabilization technologies. The company’s exhibition will focus on innovative MEMS-based navigation systems, technological sovereignty, and its close partnership with the Bundeswehr – German Armed Forces.
Since its founding in 1961, NG LITEF has stood for high-precision navigation and sensor systems “Made in Germany.” Originally established as part of a technology transfer for the German Starfighter fleet, the company has evolved into the leading European specialist in inertial navigation and stabilization. The company’s longstanding collaboration with the German Armed Forces continues to shape it to this day and forms the foundation for numerous technological developments in security-related applications.
Today, systems from Freiburg are used in numerous key programs within the German and European defense sectors.
At ILA Berlin, NG LITEF is showcasing its latest developments in the field of MEMS-based inertial navigation systems. These technologies are considered a crucial component for future military platforms and offer high precision, robustness, and autonomy in demanding operational scenarios.
“For 65 years, NG LITEF has combined German engineering expertise with technological innovation in the service of the Bundeswehr. Our presence at ILA Berlin underscores our role as a reliable partner to the German Armed Forces as well as the European security and defense industry,” explains Lutz Kampmann, Managing Director of NG LITEF.
As part of Northrop Grumman, NG LITEF combines the strength of a global technology company with local development, production, and industrial value creation in Germany. This transatlantic model enables the combination of global innovations with national requirements while simultaneously strengthening the technological sovereignty of Germany and Europe.
At ILA Berlin, Northrop Grumman and NG LITEF will showcase their respective technological specialties at separate exhibition booths, highlighting their complementary roles within an integrated transatlantic enterprise. While Northrop Grumman showcases its international portfolio of state-of-the-art defense technologies, NG LITEF focuses on its navigation and stabilization solutions developed in Germany, as well as its role as an established industrial and technological hub in Europe.
With its trade show presence, NG LITEF once again underscores its commitment to remaining a key technology partner for the Bundeswehr and European defense industry in the future—serving the Bundeswehr for 65 years and looking ahead to the challenges of tomorrow.
