Leading Inertial Technology

Where others reach their limits, we start. We have been developing navigation technologies that redefine what is physically possible for more than 60 years.

Technologies to make the impossible possible

LITEF develops and manufactures inertial sensors and navigation systems on the basis of German technology since 1961. Our systems provide precise navigation and position information, also with interrupted or unavailable GNSS signals. Based in Freiburg, Germany, we supply solutions for the highest shock, acceleration and vibration requirements to our customers worldwide.

With our system knowledge and independent development and production processes, we continue to explore the limits of what is technologically feasible and push the boundaries of what is possible. The precision required for this is based on robust and interference-free inertial sensors and intelligent navigation algorithms that integrate all relevant data for navigation.

LITEF, based in Freiburg, Germany, is an independently operating German company within the globally operating Northrop Grumman Corporation. As an ITAR-free company, LITEF has its own technology and product portfolio that is independent of the corporation. The company is certified as a design and production organization by EASA and the German Military Aviation Authority (LufABw). Thanks to multiple production sites and resilient supply chains, LITEF guarantees maximum reliability, quality, and security of supply for customers worldwide.

What sets us apart

Going beyond limits

We develop technologies for environments in which traditional solutions fall short. With extreme demands and the toughest of conditions.

Independent innovation

As an independent company within the Northrop Grumman Group, located in Freiburg, we develop our own paths to achieving groundbreaking solutions.

Proven reliability

Our systems work in fields where failure is not an option. Our 60 years of experience speak for themselves.

Genuine partnerships

We understand the challenges our customers face and work together to develop solutions that still seem impossible today.

Our understanding of compliance

We take compliance to mean responsible corporate governance as well as compliance with the statutory regulations, official ordinances and ethical principles. Complying with the rules is a matter of course for our employees. Our Code of Conduct serves as a set of guidelines for our actions.

With the BKMS® Whistleblower and Compliance System (Business Keeper Management System) of the external company Business Keeper GmbH, we provide a procedure for the systematic recording and processing of anonymous and non-anonymous reports. With the help of the system, so-called whistleblowers can provide information on suspected violations and criminal acts for selected topics that have been defined between the management and the works council of Northrop Grumman LITEF GmbH.

Diversity and equality

Ensuring equal opportunities for women and men has always been one of our priorities. We actively promote women to managerial positions and have achieved our goals in this area both for senior management roles and other levels of management.

WITH LEADING TECHNOLOGY TO THE TOP

Anyone who chooses LITEF can depend upon absolute cutting-edge technology – for almost six decades, we have been producing safety. Safety means that our products and solutions have a proven track record of reliable service. LITEF wishes to be the market and technology leader in the inertial systems sector, renowned for robust and reliable FOG, MEMS and Sensor Fusion solutions. We are already well on the way to achieving that objective.

Our Values

We do the right thing

We earn trust, act with ethics, integrity and transparency, treat everyone with respect, value diversity and foster safe and inclusive environments.

We do what we promise

We own the delivery of results, focused on quality outcomes.

We commit to shared success

We work together to focus on the mission and take accountability for the sustainable success for our people, customers, shareholders, suppliers and communities.

We pioneer

We pioneer with fierce curiosity, dedication and innovation, we seek to solve the world’s most challenging problems.

Where innovation is at home

At our location in Freiburg im Breisgau, about 600 employees work on the further development of our core technologies, MEMS and FOG. In our development and test laboratories as well as our clean and super clean rooms, innovative solutions for the most demanding applications are created. Our company location combines research, development and production under one roof – for short distances from the idea through to the product.
